North American stock markets finish week at record highs

Fuelled by optimism regarding US/China trade negotiations, all major North American stock benchmarks closed at all-time highs.

The S&P TSX Composite index extended its winning streak to an 11th day.

The S&P TSX added 56 points or 0.3 per cent to finish at 17,028. The DOW rose 222 points or 0.8 per cent to close at 28,004.

The NASDAQ gained 61 points or 0.7 per cent to close at 8,540. The S&P 500 up 23 points or 0.7 per cent to finish at 3,120.

Toronto stocks reach historic levels in early trading

The S&P TSX Composite Index is above 17,000 for the first time ever, adding 30 points in early trading.

The index is on pace for an 11-day winning streak and hitting records for the fourth consecutive day.
